THE FOUNDER’S PHILOSOPHY

The following excerpt is from an essay written on August 1, 2016 by Jamie LeShaé Jenkins.

Building Opportunities & Opening Minds acknowledges the complicated history of conquest, colonialism, and subjugation; and how power is a tool of leverage over our lives and for our lives. We support civil rights, equity & social justice initiatives; but are distinctly liberation-based. Our role is not to reform what exists, but to design something entirely new. BOOM is a thesis & experiment… an imagination station & discovery zone… an active ongoing study of what it takes to cultivate free Black & Brown beings who dare to envision the impossible and create it.

To achieve liberation, we must pursue power. POWER is leverage.

VISION

A collective force of young trailblazers with free spirits, decolonized minds and activated bodies will innovate ideas, inventions & institutions that create self-sustaining POWER for our people, and lead to liberation for all.  BOOM Trailblazers will launch initiatives that build opportunities (employment, economic capital, etc.) and open minds (education, mass media, etc.) within our communities.

This may look like:

  • Trailblazers constructing new governments, legislation, and advocacy.
  • Trailblazers creating independent institutions for survival, health, wealth, and justice.
  • Trailblazers manufacturing/amassing survival resources; and inventing/advancing technology.
  • Trailblazers leading research, schools, independent education movements and mass media.
  • Trailblazers advancing freedom activism, coalition building, and international ambassadorships.

Ultimately, we envision a world where people of African descent, people descended from those indigenous to the Americas, and survivors of colonialism, imperialism and terrorism worldwide, are fearlessly free.

We are dedicated to sparking the FLAMES that will BOOM and build the new world.
