BE A BOOM SITE PARTNER

As a BOOM site partner, you not only have the opportunity to make an incredible impact on the lives of school-aged children, but also to make a transformative impact on the entire community within and surrounding your site. Through 3 tracks of development to K-16 students and early career educators, FLAMES (K-8 participants), not only improve their academic and social skills; but MATCHES (high school students) and SPARKS (college students) also complete 6 weeks of hands-on culturally responsive teacher training; and TRAILBLAZERS (early career teachers), complete 6 months of professional development in curriculum design, project management, and teacher coaching. So with one site, you combat the summer slide, combat the teacher shortage, and cultivate a force of teacher leaders all at once!

BOOM has achieved 100% literacy retention and averages 85% literacy rate increases with our K-8 participants for the last 5 years. Check out our site overview sheet BOOM with us!

ABOUT BOOM FREEDOM SUMMER

BOOM Freedom Summer provides six weeks of culturally responsive summer enrichment to K-8 children. Our interdisciplinary curriculum strengthens students’ confidence and improves their competence with key 21st century skills. Each day begins at 8 AM with a nutritious breakfast, followed by an energizing unity session complete with celebratory cheers & chants; and a read-aloud from a local community member. Students engage in project-based learning from 9 AM – 12 PM, have lunch at noon, then participate in a range of activities, like dance, yoga, improv, sports, and drumming, from 1-3 PM. Dismissal is at 3 PM. FLAMES attend a field trip every Friday and host a Finale Showcase for their families and the BOOM Freedom Summer community at the end of the summer.
